About the Metro St. Louis HIV Health Services Planning Council:
THE METRO ST. LOUIS HIV HEALTH
SERVICES PLANNING COUNCIL IS A COMMUNITY PLANNING GROUP APPOINTED BY THE
MAYOR. The Metro St. Louis Planning Council was established in 1993
and operates under the authority of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment
Act of 2006 (formerly the Ryan White CARE Act).
THE RYAN WHITE TREATMENT MODERNIZATION
ACT is a federal law that provides funds to help pay for medical and
supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS and cannot pay for
the care they need. The Mission of the Metro St. Louis HIV Health
Services Planning Council is to develop and coordinate an effective and
comprehensive community-wide response to HIV/AIDS in the St. Louis Metro
area.
THE PLANNING COUNCIL IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR:
• Developing a plan for the delivery of HIV care and service in the 11
county region
• Prioritizing services for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS
• Developing a plan for the delivery of these services
• Ensuring that the St. Louis region continues to receive Ryan White
Program Funding
THE PLANNING COUNCIL IS MADE UP OF 41

members are people who are HIV positive, other members work in AIDS
research and still other are caregivers and retired teachers. All
meetings are open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend the
meetings and share their opinions during the discussion segment.
OVER 3000 PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS
ARE HELPED BY THE PLANNING COUNCIL EACH YEAR. These services vary
